RESEARCH AT THE FACULTIES OF THE UNIVERSITÉ CATHOLIQUE DE LILLE

The Institut Catholique de Lille, also called the Faculties of the Université Catholique de Lille, is a private higher education establishment of public interest(EESPIG), a member of the Université Catholique de Lille, a member federation of ComUE Lille Nord de France

A feature of the Faculties of the Université Catholique de Lille is that they host on the same site researchers with very different scientific backgrounds (psychology, medicine, theology, law, political science, economics, geography, etc.) and form a network that is both intertwined and cooperative. Intertwined because the Faculties encourage disciplinary research, which is essential to develop quality study programmes, while promoting connections between researchers from different disciplinary fields. The potential for cooperation, meanwhile, is maximised in the “maison des chercheurs,” a genuine co-elaboration ecosystem.

research for the good of society

The research teams of the faculties of the Université Catholique de Lille all focus on Man and his position in contemporary society. Their research fields cover a broad range of topics, from technological ethics, to individual care provision, from insect identification to legal and psychosocial risk, from Biblical exegesis to the Christian foundations of the European Union, from co-creation and shared intelligence to the challenges of big data, from the third industrial revolution to psychoanalysis, from human capital to influential communication, from smartgrids to social participation, etc.

RESEARCH TEAMS AND UNITS

In their endeavour to contribute to public debate by sharing its insights with decision makers and businesses, the faculties of the Université Catholique de Lille constantly produce top-quality research, pure and applied, disciplinary and cross-disciplinary. Our research has an international outlook but maintains its feet firmly in our local region, and is led by the equivalent of nearly 45 full-time researchers (apart from medical research).

Our scientific activity is organised in nine research units in disciplinary fields as varied as psychology, ecology, economics, law, theology, history, philosophy, communication, etc.

Five of our teams are emerging (Ecology and Biodiversity LaboratoryMultidisciplinary Human Science and Society Laboratory, HaDéPas unit, Espol labLaboratory of Experimental Anthropology); two others were audited in 2014 by AERES (Department of Ethics and Philosophy (DEPhi) and the Centre for Research into the Relationship between Risk and Law (C3RD)); one team, the Centre for Research into Human Capital, is a member of a certified research unit (LEM - UMR CNRS 9221); and finally, the research conducted in the Faculty of Theology, is audited by Avepro.
